Women in Publishing Awards 2009 winners

Pandora Award - Mslexia

2009 marked the 10th anniversary of Mslexia, a quarterly magazine for women writers. Since their first issue, Mslexia has provided a platform for women to submit their work, seek inspirations and advice, exchange ideas and connect with agents and publishers. With a loyal base of over 10,000 subscribers, the magazine has become a ‘must read’ for all women who write.

Over the last 10 years, Mslexia has made a major and valuable contribution to women in publishing and is undoubtedly the deserved winner of this year’s Pandora Award.

New Venture Award – Chorleywood Literature Festival

Chorleywood Literature Festival was founded in 2006 by Sheryl Shurville and Morag Watkins. Despite limited funding and staff (run by mainly volunteers), the festival has gradually gained momentum and became an important literature event in Chorleywood. Now in its fourth year, the 2009 festival was a sell out event and received very positive feedback from attendees and critics.

Sheryl, Morag and others have shown enormous courage and devotion and are this year’s New Venture Award winner.
